Mad Men Inspired Bridal Shower

When you think of a 1960's housewife, two pictures come to mind. One being the sweet, supportive and loving Laura Petrie type. The other being the martini shaking, cigarette smoking kind like the women in the TV series Mad Men. About a month ago, a client came to us with the idea of throwing her daughter's bridal shower with an angry housewife twist. We absolutely loved the idea and ran with it!! The theme was original and I think everyone there will remember this bridal shower for years to come! Here's what we came up with for her...
The custom invitations we designed, printed and mailed for her.
A vintage portable bar, decanters and other props helped set the theme.

Party favors included a martini glass with candy ciggarettes, red lipstick and pearls.
The hit of the party decor were definitely these high heel cupcakes
from our new favorite cookbook Cupcakes, Cookies and Pies Oh My!

We had such a blast designing everything from scratch for this party. We also made all of the hair pieces you see the girls wearing...thirty all together! That was a challenge, but they were very fun to create and now we have them to rent for future parties. Everyone loved wearing them for the day.

The bride and her ladies in our photo booth with all their Mad Men glamour!

I bartended the event, serving up our signature tea infused cocktails!

Caprese Kabobs, mmm!

Our client served up the most delicious orange marmalade cake, recipe to come soon I hope!

The lucky bride and her mother. They know how to party in style!

That's me! My beehive updo was a huge hit!

That's mom, posing with a mocktail and sporting one of our handmade hair fascinators!

Style item of the week

I'm back again with pictures from my styling assignment for this week! This week it's all about the stylish MAN :) The item I styled is the seersucker striped woven shirt. It comes in a blue and a green option. It's easy to dress up or down for those fashion mavericks out there.
Tune in next week for the new styling item of the week! Featured model is Donovan Beneties.
I aslo wanted to share with  you guys my newest window creation for my  store. Normally when we update our windows, we get a directive from corporate and I get to pick out a few looks of my own. This week, just for the Vegas market, we created an all white window to promote the "White parties" that go on Memorial Day weekend in Las Vegas. And guess who got to pick out all the looks?....ME!

Future stylist?

At work this week, I was given a styling assignment! They asked me to take one item from our store, and style it multiple ways. I tried to give a variety: day, night, sexy, casual, etc. The item is this silver metallic jacket, which I am now in love with after this project and going to buy myself! LOL I'd love to hear your feedback on my looks.

I had so much fun with this! I hope I get to do more styling in the future. I'd love to take any styling questions from my readers as well! See you next week!
My wonderful model is Andrea Alacantar.

Moving the Queen Bee

My next few posts are going to be about moving into my new place. As an empty nester you realize that it is time to move into the next chapter of life! I have been in my house for going on 17 years. My two girls are grown and I have lived alone in a big house in the burbs for 10 years; mostly out of habit. I moved this past weekend and I am so excited to be reinventing myself and my space. I am renting the top half of a duplex. I decided I am not a conventional girl and so why should my space be...

So I took the living room/dining room and turned it into a sewing/crafting space. The master bedroom will be the living room/dining room. I am taking one of the back 2 bedrooms as my room and the smallest bedroom as my fabric room. Here I am posting my old kitchen and my new kitchen:

Stay tuned for more updates!
