Style item of the week

I'm back again with pictures from my styling assignment for this week! This week it's all about the stylish MAN :) The item I styled is the seersucker striped woven shirt. It comes in a blue and a green option. It's easy to dress up or down for those fashion mavericks out there.
Tune in next week for the new styling item of the week! Featured model is Donovan Beneties.
I aslo wanted to share with  you guys my newest window creation for my  store. Normally when we update our windows, we get a directive from corporate and I get to pick out a few looks of my own. This week, just for the Vegas market, we created an all white window to promote the "White parties" that go on Memorial Day weekend in Las Vegas. And guess who got to pick out all the looks?....ME!

Future stylist?

At work this week, I was given a styling assignment! They asked me to take one item from our store, and style it multiple ways. I tried to give a variety: day, night, sexy, casual, etc. The item is this silver metallic jacket, which I am now in love with after this project and going to buy myself! LOL I'd love to hear your feedback on my looks.

I had so much fun with this! I hope I get to do more styling in the future. I'd love to take any styling questions from my readers as well! See you next week!
My wonderful model is Andrea Alacantar.

Moving the Queen Bee

My next few posts are going to be about moving into my new place. As an empty nester you realize that it is time to move into the next chapter of life! I have been in my house for going on 17 years. My two girls are grown and I have lived alone in a big house in the burbs for 10 years; mostly out of habit. I moved this past weekend and I am so excited to be reinventing myself and my space. I am renting the top half of a duplex. I decided I am not a conventional girl and so why should my space be...

So I took the living room/dining room and turned it into a sewing/crafting space. The master bedroom will be the living room/dining room. I am taking one of the back 2 bedrooms as my room and the smallest bedroom as my fabric room. Here I am posting my old kitchen and my new kitchen:

Stay tuned for more updates!

Howdy Austin!

SoCo District in Austin
Rob and I visited some friends of our's down in Austin, Texas last weekend. My good girlfriend, Jenny, moved to Austin in January with her boyfriend Keith. They didn't really know anyone down there, just looking for a change of scenery. So, when Jen found out she was pregnant a couple months ago it was a little scary to her knowing she'd be going through a lot of it on her own. I decided it was a great excuse to come visit her!! We could plan her baby shower, get their registry started and talk "baby" all weekend.

It was going to be my first time being away from Porter for more than one night and I was really nervous to leave him. Not because I was worried about his well being. I knew he was in good hands and that he would have a blast with Nonni and with his Grandpas. To be honest, I was afraid that it would be too hard for me. We planned to be gone for four days and it scared the hell out of me to be apart from my baby boy for that long!

I'm here to tell you it was SO much easier than I thought it'd be! We were really active and had such a wonderful time and I think that eased the separation anxiety a lot for me. We toured the city, kayaked on Lake Austin, walked up and down the streets in SoCo, the guys golfed, the girls shopped...It was really a perfect little getaway!

Austin had an aliveness to it that you don't feel in just any city. There is so much to do there and a lot that I especially loved about the area. The people of Austin are very health conscious and physically active. Each restaurant we ate at had a nice selection of vegetarian and vegan entrees and everywhere we went we passed at least a dozen bicyclists. Another great thing I enjoyed was all of the local art and music the city has to offer. I got a strong sense that the community really supports local businesses which I think is awesome. I can't wait to plan my next trip there!
